How to find out where I bought my motherboard from

Hello guys,

I have a little weird question about motherboards, but it also applies to other pc components as well.

I have 2 identical motherboards (ASUS PRIME Z270-A).
One installed in my computer the other on my brother's.
One bought from a local store and the other one from amazon.

The motherboard installed on my brother's pc just died but fortunately is still on warranty and I can get a refund/replace it.

The problem is that I cannot remember if the one on my brothers pc is the one that I bought from amazon or the one that I bought from the local store. So I am not sure where should i return it to.

If I take it to the local store will they be able to know the difference if it turns out to be from amazon?
I don't know how, but is there a connection between the motherboard's serial numbers or something and the place you bought it from?
Is there a way for me to find out which is which?

Thank you in advance.

Motherboards do have serial numbers. But unless the retailer recorded it then they don't know what it is. They could have, I still have the box to my motherboard I bought from an Amazon retailer and it has the serial number on the outside.

But, unless you purchased a separate warranty from the retailer you should be contacting ASUS directly.

Amazon has an order history under your account. Which is organized by year and date.

To search amazon search
ASUS PRIME Z270-A amazon in a web browser.

Motherboards have a 3 to 5 year warranty check your history and see if its passed its warranty limit.

For warranties call ASUS support
Go to http://www.ASUS.com or
Call 1 800 209 0365. They will need your purchase date from amazon history.

The purchase date is for the warranty since it starts the day of purchase. Find that on Amazon history.

Guys, Thanks a lot for the responses but you are not answering my question. I know for a fact that both of the motherboards are still on warranty. That is not my problem.

My problem is I cannot distinguish which motherboard I bought from amazon and which from the local store since they both look the same!

So again, my question is,
what happens if I accidentally return the "amazon bought" motherboard to the local store? Will they be able to know that the motherboard that I returned to them is not actually the one that I bought from them?

I think it does not mater since both are the same motherboard. My point is not sure how to tell unless they marked it some way. Could be on the motherboard box if you still have it. If not in the future keep the box till the warranty is up.
