So I called up xfinity to see if I could get cable internet and they say I can get it in my area they just have to register my address so I did that. I have a few questions about my houses cable setup. So most rooms have cable and phone line outlets. Then I went into my basement where all the cables come to and basically they all are cut off (will include picture). I thought these cables must go outside or something. (Note no one has every had cable installed at my house.) I went outside to see if there is a cable box and I did not find much except this cylinder tube coming out of ground(picture included) that has sprint on it. Is this the cable lines? Or do the cable company have to install a box to run? I live in a cul-de-sac and I don’t quite understand how I get cable internet but the said I can get it. Please help, thank you! They will run a coax line from that white box (in your yard?) to the side of your house.
From that, a line inside.
On that line, it depends what you are buying...internet, or internet and TV?

IN any case, they will make at least ONE connection work, to the router.
If you want them to hook up the whole rest of the house...that is extra $$$.
Sometimes a LOT of extra.

The cable company will run the line to a box on the outside of the house.
After that, a line from there, to inside.
On the inside, splitters off to link all the room coax lines.

How exactly depends on how it is currently wired, and what you are actually buying from xfinity.
Generally, they will hook up ONE internet router and ONE TV box.

For your internet, the rooms need to have Cat5e run to them. Unless you want to delve into powerline or MOCA devices. Or WiFi.

So will they install a box, because I do not currently have one on the side of my house. The wires pictured are from what I believe all around my house(they are all coaxial cables). My house only has phone line outlets and the cable screw on type outlets. So will the cable company run the wires in my basement outside to a box they install or what? Also I don't understand how it is available, I live on a golf course with many houses around me ,but I am roughly 5 miles from the nearest town and the telephone pole is about a half mile from my house. Is that weird or normal? Thanks for the reply.
