The server for the game i'm playing is in California. I am in Connecticut my ping is 95-130
I was wondering if I could use a vpn to lower it like maybe vpn to a state closer to California if not California to lower my ping is that possible?

Maybe it would be a lot of effort to investigate and it may not be possible.

Your first step would be to run tracert and see where the delay it. If the delay is in your ISP or in the connection to your house then it will use the same connection to talk to a vpn provider. In that case it would actually increase your time because of the overhead in the VPN.

The only hope you have of a plan like yours working would be if there was a issue in how your ISP is interconnected to other ISP. You would have to somehow find a VPN provider that your ISP connects to with low latency and then hope that the vpn providers ISP has better connections to other ISP than your ISP does.

My first VPN provider was for exactly the problem you say...

My first VPN provider was for exactly the problem you say but I am a network professional that has actually worked for ISP so I have a lot more knowledge. I also got lucky because the problem was only in the connection between my ISP and one other ISP, the rest was fine.

This site will help a lot but you will be a expert in networking before you are done.
