Can I make improvements to this future gaming PC build?

I am close to building a PC and I just want to get some second opinions on the parts I am planning on getting. Parts that you would replace with different parts or if some parts are not compatible with others etc.

I am going to use the PC for mainly the highest end gaming but I will also be using it for 2D animations, 3D animations, Photoshop etc (but the most important aspect is 4k gaming).

I want to be able to game at 4K at above 60 fps (Planning on buying ROG Swift PG27UQ) and just render stuff relatively fast.

I have 6000 dollars AUD (4553.19 USD) to spend on parts (already have peripherals) and I am looking for the highest performance for gaming, dont care about how good the parts look just worried about performance. I know that I only have a single GPU when I could get 2 in SLI, but I am planning on getting the new Nvidia Volta so the 1080ti is just for the time being before I upgrade it.

Probably you would be better off with TR, since your doing workstation stuff besides gaming.
Also, its good that you dont want SLI, as it's pointless these days as very few games takes part of it.

If you're considering a Threadripper for gaming, don't. They are not meant to be gaming processors and rank near the bottom on most gaming benchmarks like this:

Spending $6,000 even in AUD is a bit redundant because anything over a certain price point ($3,000-ish) and you get diminishing returns on your investment. Even with workstation tasks involved, gaming on a TR4 is kind of redundant. With that kind of budget you could spend $3,000 on the workstation and maybe about 1/2 that on a gaming rig and you'd still come out ahead. Also you don't need a 1,000W PSU for a single 1080TI if you're not going to overclock - 750W max. A TR4 CPU draws 180W, while a Core i9 / i7-7000 series CPU draws at the most, 165W. Add a 1080TI on top of that which draws at the most 250W. You would only need the 1KW PSU if you're going to SLI. Which is not the case here.

If this is a professional gig, for the work side of things, then TR is fine. Otherwise, you may want to save your money and just get an R7 1700, or an 8700k.
Depending on how much the work entail, will determine how much storage you are going to need. A 4tb is a decent start, and you may want an SSD to use as a scratch disk. From what I understand, those are useful to have.
