The Ryzen 5 1600 is the much better and more complete CPU overall with Its 6 cores and 12 threads, compared to the Intel i5-7500's 4 cores and 4 threads.

To be frank I'd move to the 8400 if this is strictly for gaming. One day you may upgrade and the 7700 is known for being a hot chip. I certainly wouldn't say they fixed the issue with the 8700 because I don't know enough but there have been improvements.

If this is going to be an editing rig for a Youtuber or be primarily used for productivity tasks the 1600(x) would be a better choice.
