I already have an i7 7700k and am looking to build a system around this CPU. It is going to be my first build so was wondering if anyone more experienced would be able to take a look and give any advice :)

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/WDJszM

I will not be overclocking straight away, so will the chosen CPU cooler be sufficient to cool the 7700k at base speed?

Then when I decide to overclock the CPU, will the chosen motherboard be sufficient to support this? I'll then be getting a higher capacity cooler, however for now, I just want all my components (bar my cooler) to support overclocking.

Cheers!

Solution
cooler too weak, 7700k runs hot with heavy overclocking
you may want a better mb to oc 7700k as well
ram from different packs may not work together, buy from a pack.
psu is not available and not good.
No OS?
No Case?

Thanks for pointing that out, didn't realise that would be an issue!

Any potential issues with the chosen cooler do you think?

Well i had a Hyper EVO TX3 on my old i7 4790K build and it got around 40-60C. Now with my Broadwell-E I7 6800K system i have a Dark Rock 3 and it gets around 40-50C.

I prefer air coolers over water ones, its the water pump noise that kills me.

Sorry, I hadn't decided on a case yet, but I'm not very fussy. I have a retail version of Windows that I will be transferring over from my current rig as well.

Thanks for the suggestion on the cooler, however your mobo upgrade pushes my budget a bit. Is it worth the £60 increase between the two?

I see you swapped out my 650W PSU for a 550W, is 650 overkill for this rig then?

Thank you!

Okay, great. Is there really a better choice with RAM? Am I right in thinking the 7700k can handle 2400MHz without OC, then increased speed as the system is OC'd?
