Compatibility Question: Corsair Vengeance LPX with Corsair Vengence RGB on the same board?

Hello,

I am looking to purchase additional RAM for my MSI Z370 Tomahawk (XMP-Enabled) motherboard, while already having 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 (3000MHz, CL15) RAM using up two of the four RAM slots (they are dual-channel). To turn up the bling factor (of course! ), I want to buy some RGB RAM sticks to add on to what I already have. Because they are from the same manufacturer, I looked into the Corsair Vengeance RGB, which have the same clock speed and latency (also 3000MHz & CL15).

The big question is:

Will they be usable, slotted beside the already-installed 2x8GB Vengeance LPX Ram sticks?

Can I buy just 2x4GB, or does it also have to be 2x8GB? Because I don't think i'll be needing so much RAM for gaming.

They may run together , they may not. You won't know till you try them together. Even if identical and purchased at different times can be incompatible.
