Hi, im building a new TR rig and i wanna know which ram (brand and model) to get at 3200ghz for the specific mobo.
Also I d like to ask, is it easy to set RAM running at this speed on this mobo? cause i know how to build the hardware but im clueless of overclocking and i wouldnt wanna get that deep anyways.

Thanks guys!

Solution

These are the only 2 models listed on the QVL that match what you specified.

1. G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series - 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3200 - CAS Latency 16 - Voltage 1.35V - Model: F4-3200C16Q-16GRK
2. ADATA Gold Edition - 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3200 - CAS Latency 16 - Voltage 1.35V - Model: AX4U3200W4G16-QGZ

Besides googling the ram list, which i can do as well :p

If i understand your question [i'm not sure i do], to get ram running at 3200ghz on an ASRock x399 Taichi motherboard, all you need to do is buy any ram on the QVL rated at 3200, install it and set 3200ghz as the memory frequency in the UEFI bios. That is it. That's what ASRock means when they say the x399 Taichi motherboard supports DDR4 3200(OC) memory.

So its just an XMP profile that runs out of the box and i set it with 1 click in bios?

This is what im asking cause in my previous build some years ago, putting the RAM at high speeds required some OC and system wasnt stable.

So im trying to find out if 3200 is something really typical or i might pay for such high speed rams and i wont be able to make it there.

Cause all tutorials in utube i ve seen so far, wasnt that easy to achieve this speed and idk if this was due to early bios versions, or if 3200 is considered a good amount of OC in the system

3200MHz is clearly achievable since many memory kits at that speed and higher are listed in the QVL. It's clearly written on the product page "Supports Quad Channel DDR4 3600+(OC)".

As for whether it's an XMP profile, i don't know. In any case an XMP profile is just a convenience, it's not necessary.

Also keep in mind Threadripper is very new to the market. There will probably be a few kinks that need to be worked out.

Anyone plz? Also can someone help me with this RAM list? Its far from user friendly with those remarks and lists (2pcs etc i dont understand)

I want to find a model that is 16gb and runs in quad channel at 3200.
thank u

Hello again! If a ram model doesnt appear on QVL list it means its not compatible or that it might have issues? Cause the ones i find compatible are very expensive, while similar models, from same brand with just a CAS 15 instead of 14 cost 300 euros less. thanks

You can buy RAM that does not appear on the QVL list. Just stick with major brands like G.SKILL or ADATA and you should be safe. The QVL is just a guarantee, if it's on the list, you know for sure it will work.

This is an old thread but I am building my AsRock X399M Taichi with Threadripper 1950x. I purchased 64gb of RAM (2x F4-3600C19D-32GVRB). I have found a link on cpu-z with the almost identical hardware but I have no idea if it is crashing or running stable. I don't really care about OC'ing. Just want a fast stable system. https://valid.x86.fr/e9kz1s . Can anyone tell me if the RAM I purchased will work? I already have it so before I go through the process of returning it I wanted to see if someone experienced could share their thoughts?

Update Jan 2019. It worked fine. I bought 2 dual channel packages and it is running in quad channel mode no problems. I am not doing any OC's. Just running it at the stock 3600 on an updated bios 3.50
