Hey just curious if my 4790 (not k) would run 2 1080tis fine?

I run 4k for all games offline games v sync on at 60fps and online games v sync off.

While playing games i have only ever seen cpu hit 50% load and temp reach ed max of 60oc. Will i benefit with this hardware i play alot of diffrent games from GTA V to The witcher. I used to have sli 970s never had a problem with bottleneck etc.

There is a good chance it will bottleneck. I had a 4790 before, which was also paired with my GTX 1070 and even that was on the verge of bottlenecking. You probably want a coffee lake based CPU to handle such GPU power.

Your CPU won't be able to feed both GPUs at a speed where they'd be fully utilized. Will you see a performance gain over a single card? You sure will, but it will be dependent on what game you're playing and if SLI is supported or not.

I wouldn't suggest SLI with cards this generation. Multi-card builds are being less and less supported as things change over to DX12. DX11 and older, SLI is handled on the driver end from Nvidia. DX12 requires the developer to actually code their game to allow multi-card configurations to be utilized.

Sounds like its not worth it. I just loved having sli with the 970s makes the system look nice. I guess ill just wait for the next series of cards to hit the stores. Thanks for the help guys.
