What does dx12 mean and do?

I was wondering what does dx12 next to the graphic card mean. I was planning on buying the gtx 1060 6gb and was wondering also is there different dx's for the 1060 and if so does it make a difference.

Also im confused on the whole SC, ACX 2.0, ect.

DX is the API game engines and game developers use to create a game. Simply, put it means that your GPU support's DX12 which is the latest API to come out from Microsoft and will be for quite some time.

SC, ACX 2.0 etc are just names for EVGA's different versions of cards. They have slightly different clock speeds and different coolers (ACX 2.0 is actually the name of the cooler used on the card). SC stands for Super Clocked, etc.

Yes. I believe for EVGA the general hierarchy is SC<SSC<FTW. But there's a bunch of different sub models in there too. Higher tier models typically have higher clock speeds and better coolers.

Not necessarily because for 95% of games out there, they only use one API. So technically yes, there are better ones (like Vulkan), but there's an extremely high chance the game your playing only uses one API.

To sum up, don't worry about it.
