Thinking of going towards a matching gen i7 such as an i7-4770. Looking for a bit better performance in games and mild future proofing. (do not have an overclockable motherboardso looking for non-k cpus)
Anyone have any suggestions?

Depends on your way of usage and which GPU you use. If you play CPU heavy games that support up to 8 threads or more, it should be smoother.

Would that entail a performance increase at all over the 4460?
