I was looking at buying this router: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F0DD0I6/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I30OWBGLX9A1HS&colid=2CHCTI683KE4G. Bought one that looked just like it on black friday for $89 at walmart. Come to find out, it's actually a different model: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Nighthawk-AC1900-Smart-Router/dp/B01I5T9KVC. Is it worth it? What are the differences?

I really hate companies that sell the same so called model number but actually have multiple variations of that. It is actually worse because they have multiple versions of the even the things like r6900 and r7000. They even reused the r7000 number for a very new model that is ac2300.

For you average users there is little difference.

Mostly the difference would be if you plan to load third party firmware. You would have to really dig to see what is supported and what is not. This is the problem with some device, they can change the radio chipsets to a completely different brand between versions. Some chipset manufactures do not support third party firmware. I got burned really bad and had to learn to read UPC codes to...
