Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 gaming

Whenever i plug in my headset (which is fine as the audio works fine when i plug the audio jack in to my phone) into the front or rear end audio and mic jack realtek HD audio does not seem to pick it up as plugged in and no sound plays through headset and nothing gets picked up by the mic. The only audio i get is coming out of the HDMI. Realtek Audio kept popping up saying Audio device has been unplugged constantly.
USB ports in I/O seem to be fine. Ethernet Cable plugged in seems to be fine other than a few times it would just cut out and disconnect, which makes me think that it may be a motherboard problem.
Windows says my audio drivers are at the latest.

Thanks.

Is your audio device enabled or is it using the HDMI to just pass it through?
Is your HDMI port selected as your default audio output device?
If your onboard audio is enabled and you go to your device manager and tell it to scan for hardware changes, does it pop up?

Audio device is enables but it just says "not plugged in", so i am using HDMI as default at the moment.
HDMI is default audio because i set it to it because headset stopped working.

With the onboard audio selected as default, if the headphones are not usable then my guess would be the MB. Does your monitor/tv have audio out?

Unfortunately there is no automatic detect bad hardware function. That is why we trouble shoot. You have now done a pretty through job of that.

About all I can think of that you haven't tried is re-setting the BIOS in case you changed something there.

My Ethernet cable connection also keeps flashing from unidentified to no connection, but the usbs on the same IO block show no sign of disconnection and they work fine. I haven't changed anything in the BIOS

Try the obvious and swap out your network cable?

At this point, with so many problems the odds are the motherboard is bad and needs to be replaced.
