If I want to upgrade my network card to run at 300mbps, what do you guys recommend I do? Because I use my laptop for work it has to be directly plugged in to the ethernet cable. Does that mean I have to completely change the network card if so which one is recommendable?

Solution
You cant change network card on a laptop. "FE" means "Fast Ethernet", and ten years ago that meant 100MBit/sec. If you want 1Gbit/sec, you have several options:
- Get a new laptop. Yours is pretty old already
- Get 1Gbit USB-to-Ethernet adapter. You won't get 300MBit/sec, especially if you use USB 2.0 port, but you can try.
- If your laptop supports docking stations, see whether a dock can give you 1Gbit/sec.
