Will the stock cooler of a i7 920 fit a i7 4770k?

And if so is the cooler of the i7 920 better since that cpu has higher tdp? I have both CPUs plus stock coolers and intend to overclock the 4770k once the z87 motherboard arrives.

No. The 920 is socket 1366 and the 4770 is socket 1150. That's like trying to fit a regular house light bulb in a car headlight socket. Noot going to work.

I use a 212 Evo with my 4690K which uses the same socket type(1150) as the 4770. The Cryorig H7 is my recommendation. It's better than the 212 and is currently less expensive over at Newegg.

Did you mean Z97?

The Cryorig H7 is shorter than the 212 as well but Idk if it will fit in your case.

Why shouldn't I OC with the stock cooler? on the 920 I achieved a 3.6 GHz OC from 2.67 with around 70C max.
Good to know that the 920's won't fit so I didn't remove it unnecessarily.

No, I meant z87. The z87 is slightly older than the z97 and doesn't have m.2 support among other minor improvements. Now that I know it won't fit I don't need to remove it, will buy one of these better coolers next year probably when I've bought a new graphics card to pair it with.
