I need to solder wires on a motherboard, specifically a tablet with a nonstandard connector. I want to solder a USB female connector to the pins of the connector so I can charge and use my tablet again. I know about ESD. I do not have one of the expensive ESD-protected soldering irons. Is it possible to use one of the cordless irons that use AA batteries to solder, without frying the motherboard, rather than paying the big bucks for an ESD soldering station? Thanks!
