is all compatible. The Cryorig's fan won't block any RAM slots. Why the 7700K?

You chose the 7700K which runs a little too warm, chose a Cryorig cooler that would put that back in check because the 8700K is stupid expensive?

The 4790K's load is getting too high even with overclocking? It has become a bottleneck or a choke point? It's not an obsolete or even outdated chip. I guess if you have the Benjamins...

If you can find a way to afford the 500GB SSD I recommend that route. With games exceeding 50GB and routinely well past 30GB 250GB isn't all that big.

Solution

Honestly, the 4790k is still a very capable CPU and moving up to a current generation CPU will show only a small performance boost in most applications. For gaming, The 4790k is still in the top 5 CPUs on the market. I don't think it would be worth the cost. I would keep the 4790k and look at upgrading my monitor or GPU.

Well I was thinking of selling the old before it loses value and sell the new parts a year later and not lose much!
I bought the i7 4790k used last year and I don’t know if the guy I bought it from was being honest or not about overclocking and how long he has it it for!

He said he had it for 1 year so, if that is true it is about two years now ....
I’m just afraid of later on, that it won’t be worth as much because I heard Pc parts drop value really fast in years.

But if you really think I should stay with DDR 3 I will Maybe Just upgrade my GPU and keyboard mouse! Thanks!

I usually do the same thing. I sell my current generation CPU or GPU on Craigslist and buy the next gen and usually it is pretty cheap. The only thing that would give me pause here is RAM prices. This is a horrible time to buy RAM. A year ago 16gb of RAM cost $90. With that being said, your DDR3 RAM should fetch you a decent amount, so it may be a wash.

I would not go from a 4790k to a 7700k though. There is just not enough of a jump in performance. Maybe if you found a 7700k for a good deal. If you live near a microcenter you can get a 7700k for $249 and $30 off a motherboard. That may be too good to pass up. Other than a really good deal on a 7700k, I would look at the 8700k. The multithreaded performance boost is significant and if you are going to move up in tech every year, why not have the best?

I would go with the Cryorig H5 instead of the H7. The 7700k runs pretty hot. I would also go with the new Seasonic PSU over the Corsair you selected for $5 more.

I think the H7 will be just fine. At $28 locally it's a good value, obviously better than the 212 but for $20 more it doesn't make a HUGE difference. Idk.

I do agree with the Gold rated Seasonic.

I recommend EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan), 06G-P4-6163-KR, 6GB GDDR5, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC), Only 6.8 Inches by EVGA from Jet.com.

It will run slightly warmer and noisier. Can I turn up my sound or use my over the ear noise canceling headphones or just wait for the noise to become white?

That's worth $40 in my book.
