Trying to save a little scratch on a first build. I was going to go for the 1060 6g but currently i have an older monitor that is 1440x900p. I am not a frame chaser i just want a good experience. would the 1050ti work well on this monitor on high settings? as far a s CPU goes, I am waiting out for the MSI B360 boards because i plan on getting the i5-8400.

this is what im looking at for now. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bkhywV

I may in the future upgrade it to the 1060 6g but the prices are outrages at the moment. Unfortunately i am kinda piecing this together and the longer i wait to buy things the more the build gets modified. lol

well yes you can go for the GTX 1050ti
but as you mentioned that you are gonna buy the GTX 1060 in future so why not now? it will work perfectly with your CPU highest game settings and all
but if you are short on money and the price difference is too much then go for the GTX 1050ti

A 1050ti will be able to game on 900p at medium to high settings. It came game well on 1080p on medium settings, so at 900p you should be able to bump the settings up some.

May I make a few suggestions on your build? This is a mid-range build, I would not spend $45 on noctua fans. The case you selected will come with fans and I would go with those for now and see if you have temperature problems.

Additionally, you do not need a CPU cooler for the 8400. It comes with a stock cooler and since it is a locked CPU and cannot be overclocked, there is no need for an aftermarket cooler.

I also selected a different PSU. It is much better than the one you selected and is a few dollars cheaper.

By making these changes it will drop the price of your build by $100 with zero performance loss.

I should have mentioned that my brother is upgrading and letting me borrow his i7 2600k with mobo and ram until I get my parts in the case. That’s the reason for the cooler and fans. The case only comes with 1 120 fan in the rear as well. I may not upgrade to the 1060 and save up for a better GPU like the 1070 and a 1440p monitor. This is just something to get me started. I do like you suggestion though on the PSU. I threw this one in just to make sure I wouldn’t need to upgrade my PSU when I upgrade other parts in the system later on.
