Some time ago I had to reinstall windows and since then my pc restarts after being shut down, it doesn't happen every time and it's completely random, but it happens more often than not.

I have windows 10 64 bit pro version, intel i5 4670 processor, nvidia gtx 770 graphics card and a gigabyte z87-hd3 motherboard. I am also using a powerlink adapter (tp-link). I am afraid this could be a hardware problem and sometimes it happens when the PC goes to sleep, it also doesn't happen when in lock screen (I have the account locked by password).
Thanks for the help!

Sorry I took so long to get back at you, I had to go to work. I tested it a couple of times and no, it seems that if I take off the powerlink adapter the pc does not restart.

I have it hooked it up to the lan port tho, and I have had it for years now, the problem started a few months ago

Have you checked if interrupting lan (or wifi) switching it on or not? I had a issue with asus P8Z77v mobo which restarts on its own if I turn off my wifi router. Every single time. Took me long to figure out this simple thing but there is a option in bios to save power in S3 stage or something and a remote power on feature through lan. Changing that setting stopped my issue, but don't remember exactly.
Here is my old thread,

While I did reinstall recently I had win10 since the free upgrade days

I don't know but I think if that was the case the PC wouldn't shut down properly at all and not just sometimes

No, I restart the modem quite a lot due to it having hiccups and the pc worked fine
