Are there compatibility concerns with using console controllers on console-PC ports?

(Skip to the bottom for TLDR)

Hey all, thanks in advance for your help here. It's been a long while since I've built a new PC and all my parts just arrived, as well as a new 4k TV. I'm especially stoked to play some games with a controller on PC. Seeing as how I've never done this before (this really wasn't a thing last time I got into PC gaming), I was hoping you all could help me prevent running into compatibility issues with various controllers. I currently have an Xbox One-S and the accompanying wireless controller, so my questions are this:

I understand that Sony brought/is bringing PS4 exclusives to PC via Playstation Now. Will the XBONE-S controller work with Playstation Now or do I have to have a PS controller (Dualshock4 etc.)?

I'm also curious about the reverse; I understand from research that through DS4Windows, the computer is tricked into thinking that the DS4 is a Xbox 360 controller. Using DS4Windows, will the DS4 also be compatible with Playstation Now games? Or using the new DS4 Wireless dongle that Sony put out, while the DS4 be compatible with XBONE-PC ports?

It's possible, or probable, that some of my assumptions are wrong. If so, please let me know. Thank you again for your help!

TLDR; Can you play XBONE-PC and PS4-PC ports (Steam, standalone games, Playstation Now etc.) using only one brand of controller? Or do you need one of each?

No compatibility issues with PC games / port or not. Only thing is PS4 games MAY show the PS4 buttons (X O [] ^) but their locations on the xbox controllers are otherwise the same.

The Xbox Controllers will always be the most compatible with PC games because Microsoft owns Windows and Xbox.

PSNow is a different story, because they aren't PC ports, they're just streamed PS4 games. The Dualshock4 has features that Xinput (xbox and 3rd party) controllers do not. Like that PS home button, the touchpad and motion controls.

The opposite is kind of true with using DS3/4 controllers on PC. All PC games will show the Xbox controller buttons instead of the PS...
