I have a Toshiba 47lv863 and recently i have encountered this problem where the sound works but the picture does not. When you turn it on it shows random grid like patterns and then turns almost immediatly turns to black. I tried rhe torch trick but no picture could be seen.the backlight is visibly on from the front and the back. The backlight works and i have found that the T Con is also working. So the question is now what else could it be? Is it the main board and should i attempt to replace it or just buy a new TV?

You seem pretty on top of it if you're checking the backlight and T Con board, but, maybe check/switch out all the inputs.
