EVGA 500w or Cooler Master MasterWatt Lite 400w PSU?

Hi, my question is which PSU do i buy? Im on a tight budget and i was thinking to just save a little and get the 400w from Cooler Master because it has enough SATA connections for me too but im not sure if i may need the extra 100w. Specs:

Ryzen 3 1200
B350 M and 8gb DDR4
GTX 1050
4 HDD's, one optical drive and one SanDisk SSD

Both PSU's are 80+ efficiency White. And come with 6 SATA Power connections to support my build. The reason why im not considering any of the lower watt EVGA psu's like the 430w white, is because not enough SATA connections.

  1. go with EVGA
  2. Yes Sir thank you!
  3. Out of the two, probably the EVGA W. Though both PSUs are below average and I don't suggest either. Don't leave the PSU to last with a scarce budget, after all it is the most important part of the build.
This unit is much better than the two mentioned: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/FQ648d/corsair-power-supply-cp9020101na
The better longevity for itself and other parts, as well as reliability increase is worth the extra money for your system.

  5. Thank you i will consider buying this. Does it have enough SATA connectors for me?
  6. No it has four. The next is good for the budget and has 6 connectors,

The 520watt is cheaper via the pcpartpicker, but that may be different where you live (?).

Jut saw the UK in the Amazon links and the CXM is pretty well priced there. You could maybe use some molex->sata connectors for getting the two additional sata connectors.
    Some other UK options,
    https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/4kKhP6,LxKhP6,dDH48d,jfs8TW/
one of these would be my choice,i don't like using adapters if it can be avoided.
  7. Hi Vic 40, the power supply Seasonic S12II-430W you recommended isnt available in Amazon UK. It is available in another retailer, but its much more expensive. 55£ + Delivery

I found another PSU in Amazon that i think has 6 SATA connectors, the Be quiet 500W:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/quiet-System-Power-Supply-Unit/dp/B018ILWI52/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1512220229&sr=8-3&keywords=be+quiet+psu

What do you think about this PSU?
  8. Sorry, I didn't read the whole post.

If you are willing to use molex -> sata adaptors, the CX450M is a good choice, along with the Be quiet Pure Power 10, and Cougar GX-S450.

If you only want to use sata connectors, the Seasonic S12ii 430w would be the cheapest while being minimum acceptable quality in my standards, followed by the Bitfenix Formula Gold which is at a great price ATM at £60.

I think that the pure powr 10's in my link are better.Take the cheapest there then.

  10. Thanks Vic 40! The Be Quiet Pure Power 10 500w you recommended is on offer in Ebuyer UK. It'll be my first option now. Im just waiting to get paid and I'll purchase it. However, i was wondering if i dont get paid in time and the price for that PSU increases back again, then which PSU should be my second option if this does happen?

Also, i dont want to purchase a PSU with lesser Sata connectors like the Corsair CX450 because i want to avoid molex to Sata adapters.
  11. Lets wait until the time you buy and see then what best offer is,hard to say now, prices differ every day. ;)
By then just ask again in this thread.:)
  12. I second the pure power 10. Didn't notice it had 6 Sata connectors before.
  13. Thanks, I'll let you know
  14. Hi Rexper and Vic 40, how's it going and stuff? Ok, so i've nailed it down to these two power supplies. They both have exactly the same amount of connectors (20+4 main, EPS 4+4, PCI 6+2, 6 SATA, 3 Molex, 1 FDD i think), and at the exact same price on offer in Ebuyer UK (as of 09-12-2017)

    Be Quiet Pure Power 10 500w 80+ Silver: https://www.ebuyer.com/779007-be-quiet-pure-power-10-500w-80-silver-psu-bn273

    Cooler Master GM-Series 550W Semi Modular 80+ Bronze: https://www.ebuyer.com/584148-cooler-master-gm-series-550w-semi-modular-80-bronze-power-supply-rs550-amaab1-uk

Shall i go simply for the Be Quiet one you suggested Vic 40? Or go for a modular one because i've only got a GTX 1050 so i wont need a PCI-E Power cable for it so i can maybe take that cable out of it. Also, as far as i know they are both 80+ and stuff. Im limited to Ebuyer UK now because the offer on the PSU is still there, and Amazon isnt doing offers at all, but instead i see PSU pricing go up on Amazon lol. But i have under a week until i get paid hopefully, so i need to know. Also, maybe if you know of any other PSU's in that range which are better you think, if could you let me know please

The cooler master one has 37 reviews on Ebuyer looks very positive like 5 stars full, you know? :/
  15. Out of the two, the be quiet pure power 10 is better. User reviews are useless as they only tell you if it turns on or not.

Use professional reviews whenever possible, which requires some knowledge in PSUs to gather the information.
  16. I'd really like you to stretch the budget a little and get this!,
    https://www.ebuyer.com/730191-evga-650-gq-modular-gold-rated-80-power-supply-210-gq-0650-v3 !!
    or at least this one,
    https://www.ebuyer.com/782054-corsair-650w-cx650-bronze-atx-power-supply-psu-cp-9020122-uk

For modularity rreasons is there no real difference between the two you mentioned since the pcie cables are fixed with the Cooler Master GM series. Both aren't great and offer lower quality caps so it's a tos.The Cooler Master comes with a 5 year warranty though while the be quiet! has only a 3 year warranty period.
  17. The EVGA 650w Gold is awesome, has 9 x Sata i think which would be perfect for a future possible NAS too.. but im just not sure now, last thing i need is to end up spend more for wattage and not really use what i paid for if you know what i mean?.. The EVGA 650w Gold seems like the better choice now but muchh overkill for a single lower powered GPU and cpu, plus a few HDDs and one ssd combo. The PSU's we're talking about now, offer SLI and/or Crossfire support but i wont be setting up multi gpu configs any time soon at all. So again that would be waste of money for unused features and stuff

I'd have to budget down lower than those Two PSU's Vic 40. Around 50£ is the max i can spend for my PSU. I stretched up from the EVGA 500w white to the Be Quiet! Pure Power 10 500w because i considered what you said, plus the Pure power is more reliable than the EVGA 500w. But stretching now i feel would not be worth it because my system wouldn't take advantage of it you know? :\
  18. If you mean that it's going to use more power because it's higher wattage you're wrong,it will probably even be lower. ;)
A little less money but different shop,
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/bitfenix-formula-series-450w-80-plus-gold-power-supply-ca-22x-bx.html

There is a review here at tom's regarding the next psu,
    https://www.cclonline.com/product/232944/220-B3-0450-V3/Power-Supplies/EVGA-450-B3-450W-Bronze-Power-Supply-80-Plus/PSU1442/
there are problems when pushing OPP ,which is a safety measure, but with a normal system should you never reach that point. It does have the 6 sata connectors and is the right price although out of stock right now. It's up to you to take the chance,i don't think you should even come close to OPP so see no direct problem, but that's me,some here might call me a fool.:p There's more to read about it so you might want to do that like on jonnyguru's forum.

Can't look into your wallet so in the end it's your choice. Bot the options you asked about are fine for the money. With the 5 year warranty is the Cooler master maybe the better option.
  19. Thanks, I'll take a look around for those two PSU's. I'll be back lol
  20. Hi, i decided i'd go for the Be Quiet Pure Power 10 500w for £52.98 on Ebuyer UK.
