No, you must have a Skylake CPU to update the BIOS version 3016 or later. Which supports Kaby Lake on that motherboard.

You can try to replace the BIOS chip with one already flashed with the latest BIOS for that motherboard. I haven't tried it myself but if done right it should work.

This guy sells BIOS chips already flashed and has great feedback. Just specify your motherboard and revision (if there is more than one revision). Then ask for the latest BIOS to be flashed.

Depends, some motherboards allow a CPU-less and RAM-less BIOS update. This is a very rare feature usually only offered by high end motherboards.

Most motherboards require a CPU in the CPU support list. Before a BIOS update may be performed. In order to add other CPU models to its support list. For instance most 100 series Intel motherboards need a Skylake CPU installed before you can perform a BIOS update to add Kaby Lake support.

The only very slight concern I have with buying a flashed BIOS chip is if the person doing it is nefarious. They could potentially ship it with a virus. Although I think this is extremely unlikely from a vendor with such a high feedback rating. As I understand. As long as you have a workable BIOS. You can always just flash it and remove any potential virus.
