MSI B350 Tomahawk RAM compatability

Solution

Considering how memory mfr's are constantly changing their product stack, i.e., SKU's, as they change colors, RGB LED's, heat-sink styling, etc. it easy to see how motherboard mfr's can't be expected to keep up on their 'compatibility' lists. I wouldn't worry when a specific part number isn't listed.

Corsair LPX memory can come with either Hynix die or Samsung b-die memory chips. The b-die is by far the 'more compatible' but it will usually be much more expensive.

That said, they're both 'compatible' in that either should work but the b-die will get to rated speed more easily and at lower latency. Be sure to update your Tomahawk's BIOS to one with AGESA 1.0.0.6b. In either case shooting for 3000MT/s speed iss overclocking so final results depends as much on your specific CPU's integrated memory controller quality as on memory.
