Hi there,
I use a toshiba external hdd (Canvio basics). I have 2 or 3 folders on my device, Software and Games. I saw that I could not access some old folders of Software which basically had software like Photoshop and Office etc. I tried running their setups and they say that Windows cannot access the file, path, or device because I do not have enough permissions to access the item.

The new things did not have this problem. Some days later I have seen that this has spread to some of my games etc. I cannot install any game etc due to this error. I saw the properties of the files and some of them had an option to unblock them, which I did.

I went in Properties - Security and saw that I did not have the permissions to access them, so I changed the permissions to full control, etc for all users and whatever I saw there. But this hasn't solved my problem.

I ran some scans with Avast and Malwarebytes, which reported some Generic Win32 PUP virus thing (don't remember the exact name) and I disinfected them, but the problem still persists. This problem was not there a week ago.

This problem is on some of the files.
I can browse my folders, view my files, etc, but I can't use any setup or application or any file, which makes my data useless.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated. :')

I neither made any changes to the Windows account nor any changes to the explorer.
