Hello, I have an old gaming PC with Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, Kingston DDR3 1333MHz 4GB ( KVR1333D3N9/4G ) RAM, GeForce GTX 660, Gibagyte GA-G41M-Combo motherboard.

I like to play games like GTA IV, GTA V, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Forza Motorsport Apex 6 and all other demanding games like those.

Currently I can get 25 - 80 FPS with GTA V on this PC, with High and Medium settings.

I have two options.

1. Stick with LGA 775 and replace motherboard with a P45 motherboard, buy a good aftermarket cooler and OC Q9550 processor.

2. Upgrade to a completely new motherboard and a processor.

But I have a medium budget.

What will be the best option for me?

Solution
I would upgrade the video card to a 1050ti they run about 125-150$ and would improve a lot more in your fps gaming experience than upgrading from a Q9650 to a G4560

for the 150$ yes you can upgrade the cpu/mobo/ram, but since FPS is in great majority due to the GPU power not the cpu power. I suggest you get a 1050ti over a new CPU.

Here Medium budget means $150. I only needs to upgrade my motherboard, CPU and RAM, as I think.

Thanks for this suggestion!

Do you think every P45 Motherboard supports GTX 1050 Ti?
And GTX 1050 Ti + Q9550 OC? Isn't there a bottleneck?
