Hi everyone, I'm using an out-of-warranty lenovo Y50-70 laptop. My GPU died a couple months back (but otherwise it's functional) and I just had the chance to bring it to a local repair shop.

The repair shop guy told me that it's not only the GPU chipset that's busted but also the motherboard beneath it, and he said he is unable to repair it and I might as well get a new laptop (which I can't afford right now).

My question is, do you guys think any better repair shop or the official lenovo service center can handle this problem? I have contacted the service center via email but they're yet to reply, and if possible I would like to avoid it as it takes significantly longer time to get it fixed and I can't afford to have no laptop for such duration.

Solution
Only one way to know, contact them. No one here will be able to tell you if a local repair shop can repair your issue. You dont even know if he was being upfront with you or lying through his teeth.
