Would an MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr work with a MSI GTX 970 Armor OC in SLI???

Hi guys! I have a question relating to SLI-ing two 970s. I already have an MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming Twin Frozr, which I bought two years ago for £253 from amazon. I was thinking that this Christmas I would be able to upgrade my PC and have decided that I'd like to upgrade the graphics card by adding another graphics card, an MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Armor OC .
I was thinking of getting a 1080/1070 ti, but realized that it is way over my budget.

I can get the 970 Armor OC for €200 (£176) here in Ireland, and would have to drive to Maplin in Limerick 125 miles away (and some tolls).

What do you think guys? Will the GPUs work together in SLI? Is it worth driving all the way there and getting the GPU?

Thanks.

  1. If you sell your 970 and add the extra money and savings you should be able to get a 1070Ti or 1080 which in my opinion is s better choice. I just wouldn't go sli unless you have no other choice.

Even if I were to sell my graphics card, I don't think I would have enough money to get a good 1070ti or a 1080. I was also asking if these graphics cards would work together, as that is my main concern.

They should work together but make sure you have read up on all the possible issues of running sli otherwise you could be disappointed with the outcome.

Personally I wouldn't put £200 (inc travel costs) into that sli setup, I'd wait until you can get a single stronger card where you can guarantee decent gains in all games.
  4. If i were you, i will sell your msi 970 and save money to buy 1070 or 1080, i think it's better solution
