Just a heads up on all the ebay/amazon vendors offering cheap win 7 product keys

ebay i don't trust that much, but when they're prolific on amazon, i figured maybe they're legit as, after all, the OS is 10-11 years old, so i purchased one of the product keys.

Seller emailed me the key as well as a link to his website (china based) to download Win 7 Ultimate. I would never download from an unknown asia based website, and in fact had downloaded a 30 day trial copy of win 7 ultimate direct from Microsoft. When i tried to activate the MS copy of Win 7 Ult, it came back stating the product key i'd typed in had been BLOCKED by MS.

That wording caught my attention, as it didn't just say it was an invalid key but blocked.

I only paid $13.77 and i'm comfortable amazon will refund the purchase, but it's surprising amazon hasn't policied these vendors off their market place

here's a screen capture of the activation denial

Solution
Very common even on Amazon , vendors are left to sell with no screening or surveillance evidently.

It's not just software there are other SCAMS on Amazon if sold outside vendors.
Are you surprised by this? There are no legit Win 7 keys for sale anywhere unless there is some stock of retail discs somewhere. As far as I know. You know the old saying, if its too good to be true....... Amazon can be kinda like the Wild Wild West with stuff like this. Even ebay still has pirated software on it for sale.

yeah, i know, but this was the first experience with a counterfeit product from amazon - i gave them more trust than i should have. Some of it was out of frustration as I had a retail copy of win 7 ultimate that i'd purchased direct from microsoft store in 2011, and was trying to re-install it and microsoft kept coming back with "invalid" key. I was trying to download an ISO copy direct off their website and it never let me get to the download after rejecting my key. Then i went to HeiDoc's web, apparently they've taken over the Digital River service, and their download tool let me download a 30 day trial copy - and strangely enough, it validated with the very key microsoft had rejected - go figure
