I have a 500 Mbps internet plan and the ethernet cable is connected to the desktop. When I run a internet speed test the desktop, I can never get more than 150 Mbps, which was my old internet speed. But when i run the same test on my laptop it goes beyond 500 Mbps.

Is there any internet limit on my desktop that I`m not aware of? How can I fix it?

Solution
There is no hardware limit. Only limits that you have somehow configured. If you get greater than 100Mbit, then you physical connection is 1Gb. Any limitations would have to be software somewhere on that computer.
