So I was thinking about building a new rig. I already have thought of purchasing a 1060 6gb or a 1050ti 4gb for my gpu. What core do you think I should purchase considering the card I plan on purchasing?

Current Parts:
Motherboard: gigabyte fm2+ ga-f2a68hm-h
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860K Kaveri Quad-Core 3.7 GHz Socket FM2+
RAM: PNY Anarchy 8GB Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz
GPU: EVGA - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 2GB
HARD DRIVE: Seagate - 500GB Internal SATA Hard Drive

Solution
The answer depends on your budget and your goals.
For any current system you will need at a minimum new CPU, motherboard and ram.

If it is entirely gaming, then try to get an Intel Coffeelake (they are the best at gaming).

PCPartPicker part list
CPU: Intel - Core i5-8400 2.8GHz 6-Core Processor ($199.89 @ B&H)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370 HD3 (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($111.49 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $401.37

If your goals are more rounded, a Ryzen system is very good. They are generally better at multi-tasking so long as you buy one of the ones with higher core counts. They also tend...

If your goals are more rounded, a Ryzen system is very good. They are generally better at multi-tasking so long as you buy one of the ones with higher core counts. They also tend to be slightly cheaper. This one is similar to the Intel (6 cores, roughly as good a motherboard, you can probably overclock it to get reasonably close to the Intel performance in games).

PCPartPicker part list
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.89 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock - AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard ($87.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $407.86

Both builds are clickable so you can go in and edit the parts to find one you like. With the Ryzen you can go to the slower 1600 cpu and a micro ATX motherboard (with less expansion options) and drop the performance down while staying with a 6 core CPU.
