Hello, I am interested in possibly getting a gtx 1080ti possibly. I already have a 970 but I was wondering, if I get the 1080ti would I be able to run my computer with both my 1080ti and 970 but having the 1080ti be the only card I am using for video output.

If that is possible would I also have it be able to mine with the 970 while I am using the 1080ti for video output or vice versa? Or if that isn't possible am I able to use this to mine with both cards at the same time.

Solution
IF your motherboard and powersupply can support both cards, then yes you can mine with both in your system. You'd make the 1080ti your main card, by putting it in the slot where your 970 is now, then move the 970 to a different PCI-E slot.

With your miner you could specific which card the miner would use. So the 970 would run 24/7 and you could start up the 1080ti whenever you're away. Or you could make the miner for the 1080ti less intense, so you could play less demanding games while still mining with both cards.

Lastly, nicehash is a waste of your time. They take up to 6% in fees, you'd make much more mining with a pool and a dedicated miner.

Okay, so I am pretty new to this that is the main reason why I am asking how do pools work and where would I go to do this?
