So I just upgrade to a new video card because my old one was overheating when playing high end games all of the sudden (it was 3.5 years old). So I upgraded from a gtx 770 to a gtx 1060. So now I have my new card in and set up and my computer is randomly shutting down, when i game, download stuff, just doing anything, sometimes there's hours in between and sometimes i'll have the pc on for 10 minutes. I'm getting this Kernel-Power 41(63) error in my event viewer every time it crashes. Here are my computer specs.

AMD FX-8350 CPU (8x 4.00GHz/8MB L3 Cache)

Nvidia GTX 1060

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard

16 GB [8 GB x2] RAM

1000 Watt - LEPA MaxBron 1000W - 80 PLUS Bronze

Windows 7

That cpu crash and temp is not normal. Since you clear dust with compressed air it is a better method than using a blower. So what is your cooler type for cpu? If it is stalk cooler then remove it, clean cpu lid surface with isopropyl alcohol and apply any cheap thermal paste from any reputed company like cooler master or Arctic. I think it will bring down the temp and as per these results it seems this may be an issue. After doing this stress test again yor cpu once for 1 hr. Then Give it a break and stress test all components without local drives for an hr to check whether your psu is capable enough to handle this situation. But be very careful with temps. If anything crossing 90 stop it immediately at all costs.

Well as far as I knew it worked before with the GTX 770. And I believe the 1060 uses less wattage then the 770 if I understand correctly. But there very well could be something wrong with the PSU, is there a way to test the PSU?

Change your PC power plan to max performance

It is already set to high performance.

download a free copy of aida 64 and run stress test in two sets,
1. Stress only the gpu and see whether it is crushing/shutting down or not.
2. In next run stress the cpu and fpu and ram.
It may happen due to faulty psu or your motherboard vrm (power delivery unit to cpu) if aging. But it seems your psu. In aida there is a option to see volt in 3.3, 5, 12v rails. Check if there are any abnormality or fluctuation in it.

There is only two reason for this (1) Your PSU
and (2)Window try to install a new copy of windows

What??? Windows? Sorry friend it is not possible. If windows tries to install something and needs a reboot it will provide a popup. If some files are screwed and windows can not run without these then it may show BSOD. Random restarts are most of the time is related to hardware/power issues.

However pls check your dust level inside pc. If possible clean it with a blower. Also download any hardware monitor and check the temperature level while gaming or something. My laptop was shutting down few years ago and found to be the dust generated on heat sink causing the cpu to overheat and abrupt shutdown. Blowing it out solved my issue.

I downloaded Aida64 and I'm currently testing my gpu. I have core temp and cpu temp my idle temps seem fine but I'll go into a game after running Aida64. As far as dust I use compressed air pretty often to keep the inside clean so it was clean when I put the new card in.

Update: So I finished running gpu test for over an hour and nothing went wrong. Ran the test on the cpu, fpu and ram, and after 8 minutes and 52 seconds my cpu temp reached 90 C and my pc crashed. Does this mean there is a problem with my cpu?

Update 2: I used core temp and GPU temp to measure my gpu and cpu temps while running a game, I used Overwatch on Ultra settings for my test. Ran the game for about 30 mins and the gpu settled around 58-60 C and the cpu was in the 60 C range.
