ok, just checking because I know at 14 if my dad had bought me a pile of quality parts for me to build my own pc it would have been right up my alley. lol. What are you looking to spend? Do you have any idea of some of the games they might play just because it might help the choice of cpu and gpu that would be required.

Do you already have a monitor? If so what refresh rate and resolution is it? If 1080p 60 hz I would go with a ryzen 1600 cpu and either a gtx 1060(6gb preferably) or rx 580(or 480) gpu. atleast 8gb of RAM. The 7th gen Intel would do fine but it won't have much of an upgrade path other than going from the I5 to the I7 because Intel is now using the z370 chipset and the CPUs are not compatible with the 200 series chipset. The Ryzen am4 socket will be supported until 2020 so in a couple years the newer AMD chips will be compatible if you want to upgrade. Ryzen just isn't a good choice if they game with a 144hz monitor.
