I am upgrading my PC. It gives me 5 beeps on start-up. I understand that this is POST failure, and 5 beeps means processor failure. Since my mobo does not support 7th generation Kaby Lake CPUs with the current BIOS, I have put in a Celeron Intel Processor to allow for the BIOS to be updated however even with this older processor it still gives 5 beeps on start-up and then shut down. I believe that this could be caused by the mobo (being faulty) or the power supply (I haven't upgraded the 450W power supply for a few years). I have bought a 4 pin to 8 pin EPS Power adapter as this is what the mobo needs but even using that it still seems to fail. Any ideas? Is it likely the mobo is faulty, or power supply not suitable? Or could it be something else?
