Z270 Mark 1 bios update needed?

I just booted to bios with an i7 7700 (not K) and it detected everything with bios version 0505 x64. I’ve read different things saying to update to 0604. Is it needed or is that I just for the K version?

On the CPU Support list Asus has validated the i7 7700 from BIOS update 0604 forward, but if you can boot into Windows with BIOS version 0505, then you should be fine without a newer BIOS version. That said i would update to the newest BIOS version, just for overall system stability.

What’s the safest way to flash bios if I updated? I saw the latest one that Intel recommended but have read that doing so through Windows can cause issues. Is it possible to do it right through bios itself from USB?
