steam games only launch once per boot, terrible fps stutters and low frame rates on games i could run ultra on before....

specs;
i7 4790 3.6ghz
gtx 1060 6gb zotac mini
2tb wd blue (i think) 7200 rpm (this is full to the brim)
750 watt psu
oem motherboard and 12gb of oem ram... everything is messed and even though i have the exact recommended specs for battlefield 1 i STILL get lag that often makes the game unplayeable at only medium settings!!!!!

correct this problem first

You have not said what version of windows
On all recent versions 'disk clean up' will help

It can remove Windows.old etc and remove old un needed files and clean up files downloaded by web browsers

You can remove old restore points to save space

then install ccleaner and run that as well

once you have at least 10% or 150 to 200GB free space see how games run.

How "full to the brim" is "full to the brim"? If it were completely full, like within a gigabyte or so of capacity, that could definitely cause problems, especially if games are temporarily filling up the remaining space when attempting to update. You shouldn't need hundreds of gigabytes free, but definitely at least around 10+ gigabytes would be a good idea. If you have tons of games installed, uninstalling a few that you don't don't play often would be an easy way to reclaim some space, since it should be easy to re-download them later through Steam, so long as you have a reasonably fast Internet connection.

Your performance issue might not even be related to having limited free space though. Use some hardware monitoring software to check what temperatures your CPU and graphics card are getting to under load. They could be overheating and throttling their performance, perhaps due to a faulty fan, or dust buildup or something.

Yeah, WinDirStat is a nice utility for seeing how much space things are using.

If most of your games are on Steam, you can also easily check how much space they are using from within the Steam client itself. When viewing your library in Steam's standard large mode, you can click the middle of three icons in the upper right after the word "view" to switch to list view. If the "Size on Disk" column isn't already visible, you can show it by right-clicking the column names (or hitting the + to the right of them) and selecting the option. When it's visible you can click that column name to sort all your Steam games by how much space they use up. I don't believe it keeps track of unofficial additions to the game files like mods and such, but it should give you a good idea of how much space the games use in their stock form.
