I have two computer 1- ACER aspire v3-571 g (has nvidia gefore 640M, 2 gb Vram ) and a PC (optiplex 3010) with i3 3220 cpu and both have intel(R) HD graphic 4000 and 4440 respectively and I couldn't go above 1080 p resolution with both on win 10 display setting using HDMI cable. I have uninstall and install the driver and still the resolution is 1080 p with it is connected to a 4k TV.

I a sure it is not my cable because another 2016 laptop can play crisp 4K on the TV with the same cable.

I have two question;
1- is it fixable with current CPU
2- if not what is the cheapest and easiest way to upgrade the computers to reach 4k

Thank you very much for your help in advance

Solution
The igpu is wired to the hdmi port but the igpu is capable of 4k. Specs only state it can do 1080p/60 from hdmi so it's probably just wired for single link and changing gpu won't change that.
The hd 4000 is only capable of 1080p/60 or 1440p/30 over hdmi. The easiest would be to upgrade the optiplex to a 1030. Onboard video is capable of 4k. The hd 4400 can but it could be limited by the laptop. You could try setting a custom res on it.

I have a geforce gt 640 M on the acer laptop which can handle 4k but apparently it works for game and not normal display of win 10. Is there anyway to use that graphics as the main graphic cards and disable the intel hd graphics?

That option, if it exists, would most likely be in the bios. So you could try booting into your bios and looking around for the graphics subsection. Most times laptops will switch, because it helps conserve battery power if you don't use the Nvidia graphics all the time.
