Hello, I'm new here but hope you'll be willing to help. I downloaded the AVG PC Tuneup & after it did a registry fix (I'm assuming it was this) my audio is no longer working. It works when I HDMI into my TV but as a stand alone it doesn't work at all.
In terms of troubleshooting, I've tried system restore (PC Tuneup deleted all of my old ones). I've also tried uninstalling & reinstalling my driver to no avail. I'm not entirely sure what else I can do.
Please help...it sucks having a computer that can't play sound!

My sound is "AMD High Definition Audio Device"

THank you!

Solution

"AMD High Definition Audio Device" is digital sound thru HDMI and from GPU,
If by "as a stand alone" you mean analog output than it's completely different thing. Analog sound comes from CODEC chip on the MB, most common is Realtek and needs own drivers.

Good call on that Mike. Thanks for getting me thinking correctly. I was able to determine the correct audio driver after about an hour of trial & error got it working. I probably have a junky driver on there now that isn't what I need but I won't look the gift horse in the mouth. It was the IDT HD audio codec that I needed.
