Hi guys,

I'm changing my I5-6400 CPU, i currently have an MSI B150M-Bazooka ( BIOS UPDATED ), MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, Monitor is 1080p 60Ghz, and i want a CPU that last for some years for Gaming.

I don't want to change the CPU every year or two :(

( Later i will change the graphic card and mobo, but not now.. and i'm not looking for overclocking )

The choices i have in my country are :
i7 7700 ( 330 $ ) - i7 6700 ( 300$ ) - i7 4790 ( 290$ )
i5 7500 ( 200$ ) - i5 7400 ( 180$ ).

Solution
The i7-7700 is the better CPU as It's clocked higher, the heat is no problem.

Make sure the BIOS of the B150 board is updated.

Hi,

I personally will go with i7-6700 as I don't see much of gain from i7-7700 + it consumes more power and heating issues. i5 is a waste of money at this point and day, so dont bother getting it mainly your are asking for gaming cpu and so far AMD/Intel is going for more core/thread CPU -> Better gaming experience.

some upcoming games are demanding a power CPU than mine
Graphic cards now are very expensive, and in my country one GTX 1070 will cost about 400$
I think GTX 970 is good for now, as i can change the CPU then after a while change the GPU.
my i5-6400 will bottleneck any new graphic card i think :/

I7 6700 will last more time than the i7 7700 in top, especially for upcoming games.
Like i mentioned before, i can't afford changing my CPU each two years to maintain playing at High Settings :??:

Hi,

In 2 years I dont think you will find any of these CPUs, at least not in a close store. Intel release a new CPU every year except this year 2 CPUs, where one of them will officially be available in stores next year.

The i7-7700 is OCed i7-6700 -> Consume more power and generate more heat. If you are planning to OC -> get 6700 and OC it but you will need a good cooler. Moreover, in 2 years any new CPU will need new MB heck even the new Intel CPU Coffee Lake needs new MB.
