Hello Forums,

I recently bought a new i7-7700k processor on MSI gaming M5 motherboard to replace my old mobo + i7-3770, on which I was running a Corsair H60 water cooler since approximately 2012.

Both the current setup and the new setup will be running with a GTX 980ti gpu, and I do not intend to overclock anything.

Should I re-install the H60 on my new parts, or am I better off getting a new cooling system?
I have not had any leaks or failures with my H60, but Im a bit afraid of uninstalling it.

If I go for a new cooler, would an Coolermaster Evo 212 or Darkrock BeQuiet 3 be enough to cool down my system?

Thanks!

Your motherboard may require a Bios update to run a I7-7700K.
Do that before you change out the old cpu.

The H60 is not a particularly effective cooler, but it will do the job.

If you are inclined to install a new cooler, look for something a bit stronger than the hyper212.
The BQ-3 is OK.
I like the scythe kotetsu as a good $35 cooler.

Since the K can be overclocked in the future for more performance, you could consider an even stronger cooler like the noctua NH-U14s or even NH-D15s.

Lastly, any cooler needs a good source of fresh air to do its job.
If your case does not have at least two 120mm front intakes, look to a better case.

This really depends on how much you want to overclock the 7700k. From a quality standpoint, I would not be worried about reusing the H60. There is a very high probability that your pump will fail before you have an issue with leaking.

But if you are wanting to push a high overclock of 5ghz, he H60 probably wont be enough and neither would the Evo 212. If you wanted a AIO I would not go with anything less than 240mm. For an air cooler, I would look at the Cryorig H5, if you are wanting a high OC.
