Z370 mATX boards - Asus vs ASRock

So my question is pretty much as simple as this: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-G vs AsRock Z370M Pro4.

Here where I live the price difference is kinda big between these two, the AsRock is 135€ while the Asus is 200€. I know Asus has a SLI support (which I won't be needing) and the AsRock doesn't and Asus is nicer looking and has all the bells and whistles when it comes to the Aura RGB stuff and software.

But other than that, are the boards pretty much the same? Do I get the same performance from the AsRock one? Is there any difference in power phases etc? I just want a good and reliable motherboard, and don't care so much about the fancy software Asus can provide.

Thanks in advance.

These 2 boards are different, of course the Asus board is better than the Asrock and better looking, but if you don't really care about the pros like it has better cooling, better Audio, audio software, dual graphics support, RGB support, Multiple temperature sensors and Water Pump support, I guess you can go for the Asrock performance wise it may be a little behind but not by much if you are not planning on overclocking..

Both boards will give the same performance using the same parts.
If you don't need the extras then the ASRock will work leaving money to put into the parts that really matter the CPU or video card.

Yeah what I'm really just worried is the cooling, cuz my old mobo is AsRock and it has had some cooling problems with my FX-8350 processor (alltho' it's already a hot running cpu) but when it comes to overclocking I'm probably not going to do any atleast while my warranty is still good.

Well when it comes to cooling the Asrock will not be as efficient as the Asus board due to almost non existent heat shields so overclocking in that board personally I wouldn't even think about it.

Wow, this has to be the worst and most biased advice ever. I've had 3 Asus boards and 2 Asus graphics cards and every one of them has broken down in some way at some point.
Apart from those that will blindly stick with Asus no matter what they produce I think you will find that objective reviews will generally state that the Asrock boards perform better in most instances (with the exception of Asus having more RGB sync options). They have proven to be masterful at overclocking and in bios testing reviewers have generally praised the Asrock Bios as one of the clearest and most user friendly out there. MY question would be more along the lines of aside from the extra Ethernet port is there any difference between the Asrock PRo Gaming and the Taichi - I am fully aware that the pro4 extreme is one of the best value boards you can buy but I want a board with wifi so I'm stuck between the above mentioned two boards having discounted the Asus Maximus Hero due to my prior experiences with Asus and their abysmal support staff. Asus- Heart rending yes Rock Solid no. Confusing then that Asus actually owns Asrock with many switching allegiance from the former to the latter.

*edit* I would also be grateful if anyone could tell me if there is any real difference between the SoundBlaster Cinema 3 supported by the Pro Gaming and the Purity Sound 4 used by all Asrock's non fatality boards.

Fair enough but they are still the parent company - wouldn't call that NO relationship. I looked at that board and it's decent, but testing says it doesn't overclock well compared to the others I mentioned. Not sure but I THINK it's missing some of the newer USB access as well. There's no question that the extreme 4 would be the goto were it not for the wifi. And it's not expensive here in the UK. But having just spent £380+ on a Samsung 970 Pro 1tb (as well as a 8086k and expensive memory) I'm not going to cut corners on the motherboard. I'm most interested in sound quality at this point.

*edit* also concerning that the z390's COULD be imminent.
