Hi

Randomly, my PC will not boot anymore. I turned it on yesterday and it loops between the attached error and asking me to go into the BIOS. After some research I have reset the CMOS (button on my motherboard), loaded default settings in the BIOS, as well as change the battery on the motherboard (3V CR2032). No change after all these attempts to fix.

What could be the problem here? Will I have to buy a new motherboard? I've had this mobo/CPU for about 7 years. All that I am finding on the internet is to reset CMOS, BIOS, and change the battery. I have tried all of these.

Thank you

Specs:
EVGA SLI3
Intel i7-930 @ 2.8 (I previously had it overclocked to 3.69 until this problem - i guess it reset itself)
EVGA GTX 960
12GB TC RAM (OCZ and CORSAIR)
Multiple drives which are listed in the picture. I have also tried changing the boot priority which did not help.

Tried. Same result. I am getting a 'no virtual disk' and 'no physical disk' error as well.

That is telling you it's not finding your boot drive or it can't see a bootable partition on the drive. Check the boot order in the BIOS.

Right. I have tried changing the boot priority as well - no luck.

What is your boot drive, an SSD?

Should I buy a new mobo/cpu or should i invest in a new SSD? I am not sure which is the problem here. I just tried a system restore but that did nothing.

Before buying any new parts i would reinstall Windows first. If you have a Windows DVD you can run it and select the "Repair Windows" option.

Yep! I think I will try that repair option you recommended! I will update soon.

I tried the repair option - it could not find the problem so no luck there. I feel like my only option is to buy a new SSD because do not want to reinstall windows over my current one and lose all of my files.

the bios chip has bad data in it. download the newest bios for the mb. try to reflash the bios. if the error still there look online see if the bios chip is removable on your mb or it soilder on. if it soilder on you can buy a replacment chip on ebay and see if a local tv/computer shop can unsoilder and do a chip replacment. if not it time to replace your pc.

How exactly would I do that if I cant even boot into windows? I went on my laptop and downloaded the .iso file for the BIOS onto a flashdrive but thats as far as I got.

Is it? If you say that cause I selected it as the best solution that was actually an accident. Just unselected it however I will still try updating the BIOS and see where it gets me. :p

Updated the BIOS and it did not solve the problem. I am going to see if I can connect my hard drive to my friends desktop and see if it boots. If so, im buying a new system.
