LGA2066 cooling solution recommendation

I am building an all-purpose PC to do everything from gaming to home theater, smart home control, video editing, etc. My decisions for each component have lead me down to how to cool the i7-7820X. I am open to liquid or air cooled and price isn't a major concern though I'd like to keep it under $100. I'm more concerned with loudness than price.

Being a LGA2066 CPU, I'm concerned because MOST of the coolers I have been researching don't specifically advertise compatibility with that socket type. PCpartpicker.com tells me they are compatible, but the respective companies do not in their specifications.

I have decided I can either anguish over this or ask the community. Can anyone tell me what a great CPU cooler would be for this processor that can state with confidence I can ignore the official specifications? Thank you so much for your input!

My two cents would be, try getting low profile RAM, standard height RAM sticks. Bigger heatsinks usually don't amount to much of anything on RAM sticks and they just get in the way of things.

Also be aware that the Dark Rock Pro 3 installation has been seen by some members of the community as a bit of a pain.

Other than that, I hope that you enjoy your system, if you need anymore word of advice, please feel free to ask.

If you want good cooling performance and are worried about how loud it could be? I can't see anything be more fitting other than the Noctua NH-D15S (S bit is important as it has better RAM clearance). The NH-D15S comes with a mouting kit for LGA 2011 in the box which should be directly compatible with Socket 2066.

If the looks don't please you, as their color scheme on the fans aren't for everyone, you also have the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3.

These two should fill both your Thermal and sound needs.

You can find them here:

Thank you so much for the reply! While I did just find out Socket 2011 compatible coolers also work with 2066 through my own research, you have made my selection very easy with your recommendations. I think I'll go for the Dark Rock Pro (Noctua really needs to rethink their colors!)
