This is what I currently have:

- i7-2600k cpu
- p8p67 pro motherboard
- 2x4 gb ram

I have decided to upgrade my ram, and bought this :
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL

I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, and didn't do my research as I should have before doing this move. After I installed the new ram to the motherboard, my computer would simply not start anymore. There was a red light near the ram that isn't there usually.

I removed the new ram and installed the old one, and everything worked fine.

I checked the motherboard manual, and it says the mobo only supports up to 4 gb of ram per stick. I know the ddr3 is fine. The motherboard is pretty old, so maybe it's still possible to get this running? Is it possible my old motherboard does not support the new ram that I bought?

I read a bunch of guide on this website about memory and couldn't find the answer I was looking for. Maybe it's something I need to change in the bios? Any answer would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Edit: forgot to say that I don't plan on keeping the 2x4 ram, and want to replace with the new one only. Also I checked the manual and I'm pretty certain they are installed in the right slot as well.

Your MB should support the 8GB RAM. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_PRO/specifications/

May try to use the "MemOK! button", and use one 8GB RAM stick to boot the PC to see the PC can boot or not.

Boot your PC with old RAM then check your MB BIOS version, if it does not have the newer one ( Version 3602 ) may consider to update it. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8P67_PRO/HelpDesk_Download/
