Corsair vengeance pro 2400mhz (CMY16GX3M2A2400C11R) with i7-3770?

I have an i7-3770 non K, and i just bought some corsair vengeance pro RAM for to use in that build, but im now not sure if i can use them together, because of ivy bridges volt recommendation. can i?

Technically, voltages over 1.5V are simply overclocked/overvolted to achieve the timings of the modules.

Intel's official stance was warranties were void if you used >1.575V (+5%, which can occur in spikes anyway) as you risk damage to the MC (memory controller) in sustained use. I'm not sure how much weight is behind the "warranty" argument with a CPU that's nearing 6 years old though.

In real-world use, I'm not aware of anybody damaging the MC from using OC/Over-volted RAM...... but it's a possibility.
I'd be more concerned if I were running an overclock on the CPU in addition to the memory but, as you have a locked CPU, that wont be the case.

Depending on the board you're pairing it with; you might not be able to...

FWIW, there should be other XMP profiles on the modules - like 1866 and 2133MHz - if you're worried, you could run one of those; I'm sure they're @ 1.5V.

Thank you for your help, but as i havent bought a board yet, if i got one that could run it at that speed, youre saying i should be fine as long as im not overclocking the CPU as well?

if i choose to be safe and just underclock the ram to meet the reccomendations, am i really going to see that much of a performance difference? I mean 2133 is still decent

Between 2133 and 2400MHz in real-world usage? I wouldn't expect to "feel" any differnece, no.

Realistically, if you're just a "typical" user - web browsing, gaming etc - you're not likely to "feel" the difference between 1600MHz and anything higher.
BUT, if you go that route, you likely could've bought a cheaper kit and saved some money.
