Stuttering while gaming and running UserBenchMark

Hey all,

Usually, 10-20 min into a game (PUBG, Squad, and ARK) my game will either crash, stutter leading to crash or freeze leading me to restart. To identify the source of my problem I have monitored my temps and updated all drivers.

System:
MOB: ASUS PRIME z270-AR
CPU: Intel i7-7700K 4.20GHz
RAM: Corsair 2400MHz (1x8GB)
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 670
SSD: Intel SSDSC2CT120A3 (120GB)
HDD: Seagate ST2000DM001 (2TB)
PSU: Corsair 550W

My PC recently experienced the same stuttering just after completing the UserBenchMark tests, forcing me to restart. Before upgrading my MOB/CPU these problems did not exist.

Note: For expense reasons, I'm trying to avoid a new GPU (for now) even though it's probably the cause of my problems.

I have seen similar threads with my issue and people have suggested the 1 stick of ram could be the problem. I would like to be able to rule out all the other components as being the problem before getting another stick.

Is there anymore tests I can run? What do you think my problem is? Thank you

What are the temps you monitored?

Also, when is the last time you tried properly removing your drivers with DDU, and installing the latest Nvidia driver after?

In addition to that, which Corsair 550w power supply is it? VS or CS? Both not very reliable units from Corsair, could be causing crashes.

Just did a clean wipe of drivers using DDU.

Ran UserBenchMark with temperatures;

CPU idle 45C, Max 81C
GPU idle 51C, Max 73C.

I have the VS version of PSU. I understand it doesn't have the best efficiency.

81 degrees is a bit too high for comfort, though, if it regularly goes up that far. I'd say at clock speed and ambient temps that don't exceed 25 degrees, you should strive for 70 max.

Power supply could be the main concern, efficiency isn't the problem but performance might be.

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212X CPU Cooler, I'm guessing that should be able to achieve this. Should I consider buying thermal paste and reinstalling the cooler? Other than that do you have any recommendations?

Also, I'm borrowing a friends PSU tomorrow, I'll update with results.

I was going to purchase some thermal paste today and I still probably will. However, I was able to get my hands on my friends PSU and GPU first tested the PSU with no change then with his GTX 1060 all issues were fixed.

My GPU was working fine before I upgraded my MOBO/CPU. Do you think with the upgrade its demanding more from the GPU and there's nothing I can do?
