Replacing 690 SLIs liquid-cooled with GTX 1080 ti

I need to upgrade my PC to support VR but I'm not familiar with liquid cooling and I bought this cpu used. It has dual geforce 690 SLIs and ridiculous ram; 80 gigs and a beefy power supply. What steps should i take to upgrade to a single 1080 ti? Do I remove the liquid cooling to the gpus completely or adapt them to cool one 1080ti? If so which model do I obtain? Thanks for the help in advance!

you don't need to liquid cool the 1080. if you want to, you are going to need a new GPU waterblock (130-150$).
the steps are simple:
1. power off
2. drain the loop.
3. take out the GPUs
4. install the new one
5. re rout the tubes
6. fill the loop
7. connect the power to a pump only and let it run for a hour or so.
8. check that there are no leaks
6. power on the computer.

Thanks for the advice! Any suggestion on where to reroute the tubes or just connect them somehow?
