Hi i want to play 4k games, i know the requirements are high, even if i can just play on medium at first in 4k 3840x2160, heres my question i want to know if i should buy the gtx 1070 msi goes for R7300 on takelot then the gtx 980ti g1 gaming goes for 6999 brand new think it was a mistake from takelot but i already placed the order and i have 1 card left so if its worth it il just keep the gtx 980ti or should i buy the gtx 1070.... Im only playing in 4k not 1080p

Solution

it depends on what you intend to do with the 980ti. the advantage on 1070 is it has 2GB extra VRAM which might be able to help 1070 in certain situation (you can always dial down some detail to reduce VRAM usage). also power consumption. the 980ti when overclocked is...
In brute power, 980Ti and 1070 are similar.
In driver optimization for newer games, the newer one should be better. nVidia always ditched older ones and only optimizing the newer GPUs.
If you have already 980Ti, going for 1070 is only wasting money in my opinion.
If you play mainly on native 4k, 1080Ti is the best pick for now.

OC vs OC 980ti usually win against 1070.

both AMD and nvidia prioritize their optimization effort on their newest generation of GPU. but between nvidia and AMD nvidia usually will have better support on their older generation of GPU. the issue with kepler is not like what many people think it was. the real problem with kepler is on architecture level when major 8th gen console using AMD hardware causing games that built specifically for the 8th gen was build with AMD hardware in mind. this is the reason why nvidia re-enter console market once more.
