got a new ssd, want to migrate win 10 and only win 10

i just received a crucial mx300 275gb ssd in the mail, i got this pc in may, but i finally got the ssd. Now i only want to put the os on there (without deleting literally everything).
my hdd is 2 tb and ive used 1 tb of it, so i cannot clone the hard drive on the ssd.

I think the easiest solution would be for you to download 10's media creation tool . Make sure it's linked to your M$ account . I know this isn't a major hardware change. I just want to make sure you've linked your OS to your M$ account. You will want an 8GB or larger USB for the media creation tool to use. Once you have created your bootable USB drive with 10 on it go ahead and make sure your PC is shut down and unplugged. Remove that 1TB drive. Install the SSD and the USB drive. Plug in and turn on your PC. Enter the BIOS(might be spamming delete at power-on) and change the first boot device to your USB. Install 10 and updates. Once your OS is ready and all drivers have been installed and updated go ahead and power-down...

You are contradicting yourself. You want to put ONLY the OS on the new SSD but... without deleting everything?!?!?!? Do you want to clone everything AS IS or only have Windows OS installed? You can't do both...

I think what you are trying to say is that you want to keep the current data but move the OS over to the SSD.

Only way to really do this is do a fresh install of Windows on the SSD, install the old hard drive as a spare, copy data off of it to another device, format the old hard drive (to remove windows os off of it) and then copy the data back to it.

You do not want to leave the old drive plugged in and not reformat it. The OS may think you are trying to duel boot and cause problems or try to boot to the old drive first.

Or simple just get an external drive and copy data off into it.

Then do as I suggested.

Install clean OS on SSD. Install new SSD and boot up system.

You can try to use a USB to SATA adatper and connect the old hard drive up via USB and transfer the data. Or if you have jumpers set the old hard drive as a spare and install it back into the system. Copy the data off the old hard drive onto another storage device. Formart the old hard drive and recopy the data back to it.

For the new OS install. You can use your existing Windows 10 installation to create media using media creation tool by microsoft.

Burn it to a dvd or create a bootable usb to install windows on new ssd.
